Orichalc is an independent educational companion for gold literacy and jeweler craft. We built it for people who want one calm place to check spot context, study real bench technique, and catalog a personal collection — without accounts or clutter.
Inside the app you track gold spot with offline caching, explore karat and assay references, learn workshop techniques, follow the Guild Mastery Path, and keep Vault pieces on your device. Optional study reminders and Bench Live Activities stay on-device through Apple system frameworks.
Orichalc is for educational purposes only. It is not financial or investment advice, and it does not execute trades or sell precious metals. Orichalc is not affiliated with any bullion dealer, mint, assay office, or jewelry manufacturer. Spot prices may load from public market data endpoints when you are online.
Privacy policy
Orichalc is designed around local storage. We do not operate user accounts, and we do not sell your personal information.
This Privacy Policy describes how Orichalc (the “Application”) handles information when you use our gold intelligence and jeweler mastery companion for iPhone and iPad. The Application is provided by David Tamayo (“we”, “us”, or “our”), California, United States.
Orichalc does not require an account, sign-up, or login. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or location inside the app. We do not run third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
The following data is stored locally on your device only:
When you are online, the app may fetch live gold spot prices from public market endpoints (including metals.live) and currency conversion rates (including frankfurter.app) to support melt estimates. Technique hero images may load from remote URLs when available. These requests do not include your Vault catalog, photos, or study progress.
If you attach photos to Vault pieces, those images remain in the Application’s private sandbox on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers.
If you enable daily study reminders or Bench Live Activities, those features use Apple’s system frameworks on your device. We do not receive the content of your Lock Screen or notification data on our servers.
Because we do not collect personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to profile, share, or sell. Market tools, learning content, Vault, and Bench operate using data stored on your device and optional public market/content requests described above.
All of your content remains in the app’s private storage on your device. There is no cloud sync and no remote backup operated by us. Deleting the app permanently removes associated local data from your device. You can also reset onboarding or all local data from Settings.
The Application does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because no personal data is collected or transmitted to us, the app is suitable for general audiences under COPPA and similar standards.
You can edit or delete Vault items, clear progress by resetting data in Settings, disable reminders, or uninstall the Application to remove stored content from your device.
We may update this policy to reflect app improvements or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. The core commitment — local storage, no accounts, no sale of personal data — will not change without clear notice.
